Since the appearance of U-matter shortly after the Sundering, Celtara has slowly started to change. While the strange matter is deadly to living beings in general, sometimes life adapts and in something that can only be called rapid evolution new species emerge. These changed lifeforms are more fit and capable than normal and by the oldest rules that are, they displace and devour the weak.

From the mighty Draxen in Manangra’s forests to Haven’s bloated Sewer Rats and the deadly Bloodthorn Vine in Jun’ka’s jungles the Frontier gives birth to notable species. But the true danger of the Frontier comes from the untold unassuming species that spread without anybody noticing.

What started as isolated incidents, worth global news reports, has consequently grown into whole areas changing and spreading. The Rangers do their best to keep those zones contained but it is a losing battle. Too many people are interested in the exploitation of U-matter, changed plants and animals.

Without a global initiative to stop it the Growing Frontier, it will slowly but surely spread all over Celtara and eventually humanity might find itself trapped in a truly alien world.
